Efthimios Zervas

Prof. Efthimios Zervas, a Full Professor at HOU, is a Chemical Engineer from the National Technical University of Athens and has a PhD from the Institut Francais du Petrole, France. With over 25 years of experience in energy, pollution, climate change, and sustainability, he has worked in both industrial (TOTAL, Renault) and academic sectors (Ecole des Mines de Nantes, Democritus University of Thrace, Hellenic Open University). As Director of the MSc program in “Environmental Design” and the LATPEE at HOU, he oversees around 60 adjunct professors and 500 students. Zervas has 101 Scopus publications, over 2,300 citations, an H-index of 27, and has presented at over 250 national and international conferences. Recognized in the top 2% by Stanford/Elsevier in energy, his research spans energy, sustainability, and environmental impacts. He leads an Erasmus+ project on sustainability and two national projects on energy and pollution.

Niki Matsouki

Niki Matsouki, a dynamic researcher and technical assistant at LATPEE, Hellenic Open University, is known for her extensive experience as a chemistry lecturer across various educational institutions, including Smartclass and the Hellenic Food Authority. Her journey in chemistry began with QA at Leovan Pharmaceuticals and progressed through QC roles at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and Athenian Brewery, culminating in a QA Coordinator position at Specifar Pharmaceuticals. Niki is academically accomplished, with two MSc degrees in Environmental Sciences and Inorganic Chemistry, and is currently pursuing her PhD.

Maria Makrygianni

Maria Makrygianni is a seasoned researcher and technical assistant at LATPEE, Hellenic Open University. She advanced to roles like Quality Control Analyst and Polymer Chemist at the University of Patras. Her expertise was further recognized as a Science Consultant for PHEE PC and 4-D Mater PC. Maria holds an MSc in Chemistry and Materials Technology from the University of Patras, with a strong skill set including MS Office, Chem Draw 16, and Origin Pro 2016. She’s also an accomplished author with 3 publications in international journals.

Zoe Gareiou

Zoe Gareiou is an esteemed professional providing technical and administrative support at LATPEE, HOU. Her expertise is highlighted by her role in the successful organization of the International Conference on Environmental Design for three consecutive years. Zoe has demonstrated versatile administrative skills at the Municipality of Salamina and contributed to research at HOU. Her robust educational background includes a PhD, two MSc degrees specializing in Environmental Design and Engineering Project Management, and a BSc in Civil Engineering from TEI of Patras. Zoe’s linguistic proficiency spans English, French, and Spanish, and she’s skilled in MS Office, AutoCAD, and SPSS. An avid scholar, she boasts 16 international journal publications and 36 conference papers.

Michalis Xenos

Professor Michalis Xenos is tenured professor at Computer Engineering and Informatics Department of University of Patras. Before, he worked in Hellenic Open University, where was the founder of the Software Quality Research Group, the Director of the Software Quality Laboratory and the Director of the Internal Quality Assessment Unit. He has participated in over 50 research and development projects in the area of software engineering, software quality, human-computer interaction, and educational technologies. His current research interests include, inter alia, Software Quality, Human-Computer Interaction, Human-Robot Interaction, and Educational Technologies. He has authored or co-authored 8 books and over 180 papers in international journals and conferences, that have received over 2,500 citations (h-index=23, i10-index=48). He has given 4 keynote speeches in International Conferences.

Dimosthenis Minas is a PhD candidate in the Department of Computer Engineering & Informatics from the University of Patras. He graduated from the Department of Computer Engineering & Informatics of the University of Patras (2022). He has worked as software engineer – web developer in the private sector (2021-2022). His current research interests include Human Computer Interaction and Advanced Information Systems.

Marianna Stamati

Marianna Stamati has a degree in Management & Economics, majoring in Business Administration (Marketing – Management). With over 17 years of experience as an administrative staff member in the Educational Content, Methodologies & Technologies Lab (e-Comet Lab) at Hellenic Open University, she was responsible for a variety of tasks related to the coordination, organization, and management of (e-Comet Lab) actions. She was in charge (from 20/05/2011 till 31/03/2023) of the Department of Finance Administrative & Technical Services of the e-COMET lab of Hellenic Open University. Marianna’s professional background includes extensive involvement in a number of European Programs (including Minerva, Socrates/Lingua, LLP – KA3, Erasmus+ KA2, Erasmus+ KA3, CS4HS Google, and Interreg V-A) and National Programs as well, in field of Project Management and Financial Issues.

Marta Maria Mota holds a PhD in Sustainable Energy Systems from the Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto and a degree in Economics. Holds a position as an Assistant Professor in the Business Department of University of Maia, UMAIA. Currently, also coordinates the Renewable Energy degree from UMAIA. She is currently working in the area of business management, environment and society, sustainable development and renewable energies.

Maria Manuel Sá holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto. She is Associate Professor in Business Department of University of Maia, UMAIA. She is also president of Pedagogical Council of UMAIA. She has been working in the area of occupational hygiene and occupational risks and Statistics. In the last years she has been doing research in the field of sustainability, circular economy, carbon footprint and environment.

Jiří Schneider is an expert in sustainable agricultural practices and innovative technologies. He has a degree in Agriculture and Forestry and a Ph.D. in Landscape Engineering with a major in landscape processing. Lenka Zouhar Ludvíková has a strong background in environmental economics and policy. As a professor, she offers valuable insights into the socio-economic aspects of environmental sustainability. Ludmila Flokova is an assistant professor in the Department of Environmentalistics and Natural Resources at MENDELU.

Ruth Herrero Martin

Dr. Ruth Herrero-Martin is an Associate Professor at UPCT with vast experience in coordinating and implementing Innovative Teaching and Learning Projects. She was the Coordinator of Innovative Educational Strategies of the Vicechancellor of Teaching Resources and Education at Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena (2012/2016) and was the coordinator of the “Project 7 Competences UPCT”. She was in Charge of Developing and Implementing the Competence‐ Based Learning framework established in all the titles (undergraduate and Master) at UPCT. This Competence-based learning model includes Sustainability Core Competencies.
